Technology Analyst | A Career Overview

Who is a Technology Analyst?

A technology analyst, often known as a tech-analyst, is a person who helps organizations and their consumers with computer databases. The professional investigates the organization's current computer systems, procedures, and information system design solutions for the organization to run more efficiently. They primarily collaborate with clients and study existing business processes and data flows to make inferences based on the information gathered and analysis.


Responsibilities of a technology analyst:

  • Collect and evaluate data for specialist area decision-making and process improvement.
  • Draw inferences trends and patterns from somewhat complex data.
  • Draw conclusions and collect actionable information for a certain expertise area.
  • Validate conclusions/hypotheses in collaboration with internal/external customers.
  • Create a variety of reports, charts, and graphs to display trends.
  • Proactively look for ways for the IT team to add worth to the business.
  • Project-manage the delivery of new information and technology to business units.
  • Increase the value of existing IT systems by making data available, improving business processes, and other methods.
  • Recognize and act on chances for replication between sites and functions.
  • Develop and analyze business cases to provide feedback to the IT strategy using your knowledge about the business, IT portfolio, and architectural standards.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field is a must (Information technology, Computer engineering, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of fundamental programming languages, C++, Java, and others.
  • Able to create business systems with PL/SQL, SQLPlus, Perl, PeopleTools, Shell programming, and other computer languages.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office 
  • Able to proficiently analyze the data
  • Ability to provide customer service thus having strong communication skills.
  • Time management.

 

Salary & Compensation:

According to glassdoor.com the average base pay for the position of technology analyst is 6,21,500 Rs per annum in India. The salary with an experience of less than 1 year of experience to 16 years ranges from Rs 5.5 Lakh per annum to Rs 8.5 per annum. Further, the pay level differs on the basis of the company, locations, and the skills offered by the candidate.
